The YEC Pluto is a freelance design inspired by the 1960s industrial diesels built by the Yorkshire Engine Company, the bonnet of the locomotive is the same size as the British Rail 02 or 220 hp single bonnet YEC 0-4-0 or 0-6-0 shunters popularly used by British Steel in the early 60s and is intended to house the same Rolls-Royce 220hp C6SFL Engine and hydraulic transmission. YEC never built any diesel locomotives smaller than several 3’6″ gauge locomotives for Jamaica in the 1970s so this is a completely fictitious take on what a 2’6″ locomotive from YEC may look like.
Both bodyshells are identical aside from the chassis type each body takes and would be ideal to use for industrial or 1960s set layouts or for use on overseas layouts.
