Vulcan 0-4-0 “Kelso/Taffy”

Kelso/Taffy was an 0-4-0 tank locomotive constructed by Vulcan Foundry around 1877 with input on the design by Percy Spooner & Co, there are some gaps in the historical record and it is likely that Kelso being (works number 810 of 1877) is the same locomotive as Taffy. If Kelso and Taffy are indeed the same locomotive, it was constructed in 1877 for the Braich Quarry before moving to the Votty & Bowyyd Quarry Company possibly around 1880 and worked their sites around Blaenau Ffestiniog, during the course of its life it was it would loose its as built weather board for a makeshift all over cab made from sheet iron and gain single buffer couplings. The locomotive would be heavily rebuilt in the 20th century into a new battery electric loco, No.8. Presently remains of No.8 are deep underwater at Foel Grochan Quarry after an accident involving the locomotive toppling off the end of the waste tip.

Separately fitted parts as displayed within the model CAD file, separate parts are supplied on a printed raft for the modeller to remove.
